Sunday Postcard Art – Steam Punk

Sunday Postcard Art have REALLY challenged us this week with Steam Punk. When I think of Steampunk, I think of the Wild Wild West movie, with Will Smith and Kevin Kline. Images of crazy, steam powered contraptions, gentlemen with manners and ladies in gorgeous dresses, full of spunk, are what comes to mind, along with clocks and gears and other exciting engineering things.

I was full of ideas and not really able to pull them all together, so I have two postcards to present.

Sunday Postcard Art – Travel

We have caught the Travel bug over at Sunday Postcard Art this week.

These days we travel with such ease and with little thought; we can jump on an aer0plane and be anywhere in the world in 24 hours, even from Australia (although Melbourne to New York may be closer to 36 hours). Even with cars we can travel amazing distances in a short amount of time; last year we drove 3,000km in 5 days to attend a family funeral (and we barely covered the bottom half of Australia!)

But before these travel luxuries, there were the grand ladies of the sea, taking you to all corners of the globe, over several leisurely weeks. It is hard to comprehend how much bigger the world must have seemed back then.

Sunday Postcard Travel - grand ships

Map paper from wrapping paper. All stamped were stamped in Staz-On Saddle Brown ink. Word stamps from Limited Edition and postcard stamp by Stamp Francisco. I am ashamed to say that I don’t know who manufactured the fantastic plate of ship stamps; one of those times that I didn’t write the company name down straight away and now it’s forgotten. If you know who made these stamps, I’d love to hear from you.

Hope you fare well on your travels this week!

Sunday Postcard Art – Cats

Sunday Postcard Art has presented us with the theme of Cats this week.

I’ve gone for a simple layout this week. The cat and paw stamps are by All Night Media (remember them?) and were stamped in black Brilliance ink. They were then coloured with Faber-Castell pencils (I’ve got the BIG set!). Letters by Basic Grey Alphabet set.

It is SO hot here today that I’m afraid of even getting my paints out, in case they all dry out. At least pencils don’t have that problem.

Hope you are all filled with creative inspiration,

Michelle

Sunday Postcard Art – Phrenology

What a challenge we had presented to us over at Sunday Postcard Art this week – Phrenology. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this particular branch of science, it is the branch that determines a person’s personality and characteristics by analysing the dimensions and topography of the skull.

Background painted with acrylics over a printed eye chart.

I’ll go and have a look at what the others have created!

Sunday Postcard Art – Windows

Our theme is “Windows” for Sunday Postcard Art this week. Here is my postcard with “Our House”, filled with memories at each window.

The background grass and clouds are done with sponged chalk inks, over grass and cloud templates, on semi-gloss ivory card. Window frame, background papers and embellishments nearly all from Collections (I do have such a collection of Collections!) Key from 7 gypsies.

Thanks for popping over and having a look! You are most welcome to leave a comment. Then I can come and visit you too!

Sunday Postcard Art – Top Hat and Tails

This weeks theme is Top Hat and Tails for our Sunday Postcard Art.

Background created by sponging Adirondack Pesto and Currant onto semi-gloss card and spraying lightly with water. Invitation and people image from Somerset Studios Image CD. Border and text stamps by Collections, stamped in Staz-On Saddle Brown. Text written in Word and printed on my new coloured laser printer.
