Mixed Media Monday – Seeing Red

It’s been a while since I have popped into Mixed Media Monday, but with this weeks theme of Seeing Red and after making these fun cards, I couldn’t pass up this opportunity.

The details of using the Serendipity Technique to make these cards is over at MixedMediaArt.net

Thanks for coming over to look! You are most welcome to leave a comment!

Happy creating,

Mixed Media Monday – What was she thinking?

What was she thinking? That’s what we had to determine this week over at Mixed Media Monday.

I had a great time creating this art journal page. I created the background using my favourite mixed media art technique; I painted the background with gesso and acrylics, and added Collections stamps in Staz-On. The girl was attached with craft glue and I gesso’d over her dress to provide a definite outline. I made a paper template for her dress, then transferred it onto the map paper. This was cut out, gesso’d and details added with Collection stamp, pink pencil and Twinkling H2Os.

Animal stamps by Fern Gully Stamps. Bird stamp by Rhonna Farrer, Autumn Leaves. These were stamped onto dictionary paper and coloured in with pencils.Heading written by hand with silver pen and pink Sharpie pen.

Thanks must go to Diane, who does such a great job conducting and co-ordinating our Mixed Media Monday challenges each week. And thank you to all of you – each of you, with your viewing and leaving lovely comments, really have make the MMM community a fantastic one and one of my favourite challenge groups.

Until next week, keep creating!

Mixed Media Monday – Leftovers

This week over at Mixed Media Monday we’ve been challenged to use our “leftovers” – those bits and pieces left lying around after other projects are finished. Here is what I had lying around my desk:

A small 4″ x 4″ canvas, that had fallen down from somewhere, bits of text and music paper, a dragonfly stamped onto tissue paper, painted background paper with paisley stamping, a piece of cream cord, a circle punch and a few pieces of black card with some cutouts from the Pazzle cutter.

And here is the end result:

Dragonfly and text stamp by Collections. Paisley stamps by See D’s.

I have added the details about how I made it over at Mixed Media Art.

Mixed Media Monday – Least Favourite Colour

The challenge over at Mixed Media Monday is to use your least favourite colour. It was easy choosing a colour – PINK is certainly my least favourite colour! The challenge was to find items to use in this piece. As I am definitely not drawn to this colour, I have very little in my stash that is pink. For some reason, I also decided to add another least favourite colour in the form of orange.

Pink and Orange Tennis Ladies

Painted on cereal-box cardboard with gesso and pink and orange paints. Stamps are French Quarter, by See-D’s, stamped with Staz-on Graphite Black. Images from Lisa Vollrath’s Christmas countdown.

Happy creating!

MMM Believe

This weeks Mixed Media Monday challenge is to use the word “Believe”, which I thought would be simple, as I use the word quite often…but being challenged with the word alone, there were many, many options and it was hard to choose one.

Scrapbooking paper was adhered with double sided tape (don’t have to wait for it to dry!) and Gesso’d over (this takes the brightness out of the paper). I then stuck squares of text in a row and painted over them again with Gesso. Stamped various alphabet sets with Staz-on. I don’t think it’s finished but don’t know what else to add. I was thinking butterflies but that seemed too cute.

Your thoughts are most welcome; please leave a comment.
